Ramon Allones Specially Selected: Beauty with a Strong Punch

Submitted by Alex on December 14, 2012 – 4:21 amNo Comment

When you think of Cuban cigars, the first brands that come to your mind are probably Cohiba, Partagas and Romeo y Julieta. But there are a few less conspicuous brands that are just as good, though their product range may be not very extensive.

Ramon Allones is one of those brands that seem to get overlooked but deserve special attention — even only because of the Ramon Allones Specially Selected. Frankly, this cigar is one of my favorite Robustos. It’s a bit stronger than the Partagas Serie D no 4, but just as good. I should warn you though – if you are not an experienced smoker, this might too tough of a smoke for you.

However, if you are into Robustos as much as I am, you should enjoy this 60-70 minute experience. It is a big cigar, around 4.8 inches in length and 50 in ring gauge, and, because of that, will last much longer than a Corona.

This beauty starts off mild to medium with some nice woody and earthy flavors. As it burns, the cigar becomes heavier, filling out with complex spicy flavors. I have also detected some hints of chocolate and coffee. You can always feel herbs and spices but they really become dominant around halfway of the cigar.

I have had ten Ramon Allones in the last two months, and they have been nothing but spectacular, always consistent in draw and taste. I don’t think any other Robusto cigar has the value of these babies.

If you are wondering how I was able to get my hands on Cuban cigars, that’s pretty easy. I didn’t have to go to Cuba to get these cigars. I just ordered them from www.my-cuban-cigars.com and two weeks later, they were at my door.
