Cigar: La Palina El Diario Torpedo
Size: 6.125 x 52
Wrapper: Honduran Corojo ’99 Rosado
Binder: Honduran Criollo ’98 (x2)
Filler: Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98
Strength: Medium bodied

I recently reviewed the gordo size of this cigar and wrote it how it smoked… This was nothing special and nothing complex. I had smoked a couple of them just to make sure it wasn’t just one but I came up with the same results. When I smoked this torpedo wow was I hit with a blast of flavor it was by far one of the best cigars that I smoked over the holiday season. I had actually even bought some to have my friends try to make sure I was not the only one getting the great taste out of the stick.

Flavor: It was complex with flavors of nutty and chocolate. These flavors were consistent throughout the entire cigar and it was a great combination. Now at first the chocolate over powered the nutty but as you got about half way through they started to even each other out. Towards the end the nutty flavor was the stronger of the two.

Appearance: Many could argue but to me there is no prettier cigar than the torpedo shape. This one is no exception to the rule. It is a beautiful dark wrapper with a nice oily tone to it. There are no blemishes of any kind with very tight and visible seems.

Draw and burn: The draw on this was beautiful just the right amount of smoke. The torpedo shape helps to funnel all of the smoke to the sweet spot in your mouth which I think could be the reason why I taste so much chocolate to start with.

This is a nice little stick and is great with a nice glass of water it will clean your pallet just enough to continue to give you those great flavors draw after draw. I think this a good stick to talk with your friends about if they like a medium to full cigar and want to try something new this may be the right stick for them. I really enjoyed the flavors I got for this and will smoke another one soon I’m sure.
