Smoking Bands

Did you know that cigar bands would become smokeable soon?

It seems that the eternal question “whether to smoke a cigar leaving the band on or take it off” will soon become unpopular. The new

La Gloria Cubana Trunk Show cigars have approached the question in a practical way – they created smokeable bands.
General Cigar Co. – the owner and producer of the La Gloria Cubana brand has released its limited edition Trunk Show Collection to the world at this summer’s IPCPR trade show. The edition includes two cigars with two different smoking bands.

The first cigar, the YG-23, is created by Team La Gloria’s Yuri Guillen and is a 7 inch by 60 ring cigar, comes dressed ina swatch-like homogenized tobacco leaf (HTL), as its brand. Due to the fact that La Gloria logo is stamped on the HTL with a non-poisonous dye of vegetable origin, the smoker can smoke his cigar down to the nub, without harming himself. Since the edition is a limited one, there were released only 500 boxes only.

As opposite to the Liga YG-23, the Liga LR-1 is 7 by 52 ring gauge, and has a smoking band that is a piece of die-cut tobacco leaf in the shape of the La Gloria Cubana logo that is glued to the wrapper. The second cigar is also released in 500 boxes only, but comes in more refined lacquered boxes of 26.

General Cigar Co. will soon start regular production of both cigars and will be releasing them to the mass market in November, so smokers will be able to taste their novelties soon.
