L’Atelier – A New Cigar from Pete Johnson

Submitted by Oliver on June 21, 2012 – 12:51 amOne Comment

The majority of our readers know who Pete Johnson is and his role in the cigar industry. For those who don’t, let me clarify the situation for you – he is the owner/founder of Havana Cellars and the Tatuaje cigar brand (sounds like something similar to you, isn’t it? ;) ). Mr. Johnson has decided to expand his business by opening a new company -L’Atelier Imports that is manufacturing cigars. Their flagship brand bears the same name- L’Atelier.
As opposed to the Havana Cellars company which is based in Los Angeles, California, the new firm will have its main office based in Miami, Florida. The company’s leading brand, L’Atelier, will be rolled at My Father Cigars factory from Nicaraguan filler and binder, and Ecuadoran wrapper leaf.

According to Johnson, the brand is supposed to be medium to full bodied, and the sizes, as well as their shapes, will coincide with those from the Cuban Cohiba Behike line released in 2010. The three cigars from L’Atelier bear the following dimensions: LAT52 (4 3/4 inches by 52 ring), LAT54 (5 5/8 by 54), and a LAT56 (6 1/2 by 56), all of them almost identical to the famous Cohiba BHK range. One cigar will cost from $8.50 to $10, coming in boxes of 15 cigars, and sampler packs of 9 cigars – with three from each size. Well, at least, they won’t come in boxes of 10, as in the case of Cohiba Behike.

The launch of the L’Atelier brand, alongside three other new brands, is expected in August at the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers trade show in Orlando, Florida, so be prepared.

LOL funny… even before I read the text I immediately had to think on the Cohiba Behike Line. It really looks like it!
