From Russia with Love…

Cuban cigar manufacturer made it a rule to introduce special brands of cigars to a special country from time to time. On this occasion, they decided to choose the Russian Federation as their target market.
Russians have quickly become chain smokers, that’s why Top Cigars – the official distributor of Cuban cigars in Russia –decided to introduce an absolutely new cigar to the region, they think its smokers will definitely appreciate it.
The new cigar is called the Emperador (from Spanish for “emperor”), it comes from the Bolivar line and represents Russians in the way Cubans see them – “big, and strong”, judging by Javier Terres’ words. He is a vice president of Cuban cigar monopoly Habanos S.A., and considers that Russian smokers deserve this new cigar. He also hopes this stogie will become very popular among Russians, so that they could continue releasing the new cigar.
However Cubans are not the pioneers in this field- Costa Rican cigar company Isthmus already designed a cigar for Russian smokers in 2010, with another telling name – Imperial cigar, though it will start selling in tobacco stores around Russia from next month only.
And though Isthmus founder Kurt Brandt hopes his cigars will receive a decent and cordial welcome in Russia because they carefully selected its shape, taste and even name to match Russians’ taste, cigar experts estimate that circa 70% of the imported cigar market still belong to Cubans – valued at between $15 million and $20 million in 2010.

Oh I’d love to have this cigar in my collection and in my humidor! I like the variety and the collectors virus the regional editions bring to the cigar smokers!
