Anyway, http://www.bnbtobacco.com/ was the first site to catch my eye. The website does not have a sophisticated web design or mind-blowing interactive features, but, after all, I am not that easy to impress and it has everything that I need – refreshingly clear navigation and good usability. You can search for cigars and cigarettes and subscribe for their hot deals (if you don’t think that you receive enough e-mails already).

I also liked that you can track your orders right on the website. Usually with e-stores, they just give you the tracking number and you have to go to some other website (like USPS) and enter it there. So the Track Orders tab at Bnbtobacco is quite handy, in my opinion.

They also have one feature that would make my dad very happy if I used it for his birthday – gift cards. There is no fuss – you just enter the gift amount and the recipient’s e-mail, and, as far as I understand, it is enough to make someone’s day.

The e-store has Live Chat support and you can place your order toll-free 24/7 (God, these guys never sleep!). 24/7 support always adds credibility to the e-store.
I was pleasantly surprised by their large selection of products. You can order almost anything, from electronic cigarettes to pipe tobacco, which means that if I decide to order different products, I won’t have to look for them in a dozen of web stores and can get everything in one place and a single parcel.

I decided not to order cigars from this e-store for now and try something smaller at first, to make sure that they are good as they seem to be. I will report to you as soon I get my parcel.

I was also surprised that they ask you to pay separately for vacuum sealed packaging and Humidipaks. Until I entered my e-mail and card details, I couldn’t find out the shipping cost. This means that if the shipping cost was too much for me and I didn’t wish to complete the order, they would still have my card details. And what if they are scammers?

Though I was a little bugged by this, I decided to make the purchase anyway. My cigars did arrive, but in 14 business days. It’s too much, in my opinion. I never paid for extra packaging and the parcel arrived damaged…badly. To tell you the truth, I didn’t know that cigars could be packed and handled that way.

Other stores from which I ordered before shipped my cigars vacuum sealed, with no questions asked. Moreover, shipping was free. When I complained about this to their customer service, they said that I should have chosen a pricier shipping option. With other sites, I was shipped vacuum sealed cigars with no extra charges, that’s why I thought that it was standard shipping.

And what’s worst of all, my Montecristos were fake. I have smoked enough Montecristos in my life to know that for a fact. I don’t write reviews very often, but I felt that I should post it to warn others.

To be honest, I would point out two stores I liked the most because they gave me what I wanted for a good price, in a specified time period, always rendering me help when I needed it. I’d like to share my experience with you and try to be honest about both of them.

Knowing from bitter experience, it’s my rule of thumb to look for 4 factors:
Price range
Reputation
Shipping and return policies
And the last, but not the least, customer support

The first online store selling cigars and accessories from my list is GoCubans.com, I’m sure many of you are already acquainted with it. It was advised to me by a friend, he was so satisfied with his several orders made there that literally shouted out very loud about it on every corner, to every friend or acquaintance. I thought I have to try it, otherwise he wouldn’t leave me alone for years to come.

So here I am – the site looks good, nothing special but at the same time it is easy to navigate (and it really means a lot to most of us).

The prices are good and very competitive, and it surely makes you feel better, especially with this global crisis that doesn’t seem to end.

As I said, I’ve been advised by a friend, so it didn’t even come to my mind to search for site reviews and ratings. Hum, I think I was a little blinded by my friend’s enthusiasm because I never buy cigars from totally unknown places. In fact, their location scares me a little – they give two addresses on their contact form: one is Luxembourg and the other is Saint Kitts and Nevis. Since I’m situated in the United States, I would be glad to get something from Europe more likely than a place I barely know. Besides, I noticed some grammar mistakes while reading their FAQ section, and though it’s not a big deal, I would rather read pure English, and not its international version.

Anyway, those are small things, so let’s forget them. What I really liked about them, was their shipping policy. No matter what cigars you choose to buy, they will be shipped for free – no restrictions! However, cigars are delivered from 3 to 22 business days, and while it’s great in the first case, the second option doesn’t please me at all.

As for Return policy, they do not have this topic included in their F.A.Q section. Strange because I know that almost every store considers it to be their duty to let their potential customers know about their shipping/return policies. I had to contact their customer support, and after a couple of days (it’s not their strong point either) they finally replied my email back.

Yes, customer service – the last point on my list but by no means the least. Sorry, guys, you do a lot of great work, like providing your customers with best prices and free shipping but your customer care didn’t impress me at all. You didn’t answer all questions; sometimes it takes you several days to tell me two words and your way of communicating is not one of the most polite I’m used to. I will be buying cigars from you in future but strongly advise that you change your way of behavior with customers.

The second store from my list is Cuban-Cigar.com. I found it on facebook, yeah, I know, it’s much more reliable than my friend . At first, I added them as my friends and started chatting with their personnel. All questions were answered in time, in a very polite manner and since I got interested, I entered their website to get more details.

Not bad at all, you know, and like the first store, it was very easy to navigate. You won’t find here any tangled labyrinths – everything is simple and clear like water.

The wide range of cigars on the left, such information as “FAQ”, “Contact page”, “Order Status” and “Shopping Cart” atop, attractive promos right in front of you. Oh, and for those who like reading useful information about cigars, section “Useful” below cigars brands. What else do you need?

Prices vary but everyone will find cigars he/she could afford. I really like their range – I must confess I found several brands and cigars I couldn’t find anywhere else. Even if they were sold out, they were back in stock in a short period of time, and their nice customer service representative, Ms Sara Shults was always so courteous to let me know about it.

I was surprised to know from some of my friends that they already know this store and consider it as one of the most trustworthy on the market. They made several orders, and have never had any problems to deal with. In case they had questions, Sara was always there to help and assure that everything was fine.

Their free shipping starts from $200 spent. Some may consider it a little too high but not when it comes to real Cuban cigars. Yes, it was hard for me to take the decision, but after some thinking and reassuring from Sara’s part that if I don’t like their cigars for any reason, I could always return them back and get a reship or even a refund, and they would believe on my bare word, I made up my mind.

I got them in 3 (!) days! Wow! That was super-fast, considering these were Winter Holidays, and all of them looking and tasting perfect, like real Havanas should look and taste. Unfortunately, they are able to use only carrier when shipping to US, and that is USPS but that doesn’t matter a lot to me as far as they do their job properly.

Finally, their excellent customer support I’ve been mentioning about earlier. She’s one of the best, one of the most polite and caring customer support persons I’ve ever met in my life. No rude words, no impatience when communicating with me (and I’m telling you, I’m not the best client on Earth:)). Always helped me with details, answered the most stupid question and never got hard on me. I really appreciate that, and though $200 minimum for free shipping confused me at first, I finally made an order thanks to Sara.

I’d like to thank both stores for their effort in making me happy, and hope my experience will help you choose the best online store in future.

This is exactly how Fumatore di Sigaro was to me. It is the newest cigar shop in Cape and I couldn’t wait to try it out. I kept hearing all these great things about the selection of cigars in the humidor and the great lounge that they had. I just had to go check it out. Fumatore di Sigaro translates to “cigar smoker”. This is exactly who this lounge is made for, it is the cigar smokers heaven.

When you walk in the friendly owner Scott is always glad to see new and returning customers to his shop. He is extremely knowledgeable about almost every one of the sticks in his huge humidor. He is there to help you find the right stick for you and if you’re new to cigars he is willing to teach you everything he knows.

The shop is set up very well thought out, and well set up. When you walk through the door you will see and great size glass humidor with a very large selection of cigars. After you pick out a fine cigar you are able to go around to the back where you have plenty of recliners to choose for, you may even want to bring a few friends and play poker on the fine table. There are two very large TV’s to sit and watch the big game if that’s more your thing. Another great thing about this lounge is the great line up of cigar representatives he has doing events. From Oliva to Alec Bradley he has all the major brands covered.

This lounge is just like those new cigars you find where at first it is so exciting to finally have one. Later you find that you cannot go without them, you find yourself filling your humidor with boxes of them. Fumatore di Sigaro is the same way you cannot stop going back. I have been to plenty of different cigar lounges and this is my new favorite. It is a great place to hang out with other cigar smokers with the same passion as you.

Convenience in making a purchase is really important for me. I am a businessman and not a computer genius to parse the site usability puzzles posed at http://www.cubancrafters.com,so I didn’t even place an order on that site. I basically spent about 20 minutes trying to find the cigars I needed and couldn’t find some of them at all. I doubt I’ll ever visit them ever again, not to mention actually buying there.

So what’s behind the name of this particular cigar lounge? Let’s get that explanation directly from the website: “You are probably wondering what 21 Degrees stands for. The optimum temperature for cigars is 21 degrees Celsius, which is 70 degrees Fahrenheit, and the optimum humidity is 70 percent. We strive to have the best environment for our premium cigars in our spacious cedar walk in humidor so what better than 21 Degrees.”

Walking through the front door and with a quick glance you can take in the entire public section of the shop. The cash register is to the left, some accessories are located to the right and just passed that is the everyman lounge. This everyman’s lounge is done quite well with fully reclining leather seats that are perfectly situated in front of a nice T.V. However it’s important to note that the “everyman” lounge is only capable of accommodating about 4 people.

The well-stocked humidor is located at the end of the lounge next to the “everyman” section. Selection is great and you are able to find anything from the popular boutique to the … general General cigar. Prices are on par with out lounges in the area but they usually have a deals section that offers cigars at a great discount. This humidor also contains a number of lockers that are situated high above the cigars making it seem somewhat tedious to access.

Rocky Patel, love or hate his cigars, always operates in style and the cigar lounge bearing his name is no different. Walk through the vault door labeled “Members Only” and enter a world of great luxury. The RP lounge has a beautiful pool table, a great number of dark leather lounge chairs, group seating, a card table in the back, and a bar in the very back. Members get to share an area that appears to be about the same size, if not bigger, than the entire public section. 21 Degrees was built for its members and this can clearly be felt and experienced, which is not necessarily a good thing for the “everyman”.

I would like to take the time to acknowledge the great staff at 21 Degrees Cigar & Accessories. Everyone was courteous, personable and extremely knowledgeable. There was not a single tobacco fact or cigar (industry) question that we couldn’t get answered by the people who were assisting us.

21 Degrees Cigar & Accessories with the Rocky Patel Lounge is one great experience that everyone will enjoy. This is a great shop to become a member of if you’re longing to belong somewhere or just simply need a smoking haven. However the “everyman” might feel a little uncomfortable if he’s not one of the early travels to the lounge.

Upon entering Tobacco Road you are greeted with a very clean and elegant smoking environment. This spacious area provides you with smoking couches, comfortable chairs and quite honestly – the best smoking lounge in El Paso. An ash tray is always near and the tranquil environment allows one to enjoy a good book or to get lost in deep thought.

Unlike most cigar shops in El Paso, Texas Tobacco Road is a very large carrier of boutique cigars. You will find a great selection of Tatuaje, Illusione, Gran Habano, Pepin and any other smoke your palate may be craving. The prices are absolutely phenomenal to not only the local area but, with a tobacco tax so low, perhaps some of the best I’ve seen in the entire country. The staff was warm and quick to assist in choosing my smokes but allowed plenty of space to browse at my convenience.

The accessories are contained at the front counter displayed in a perfectly functional manner. You can pick up the latest release from Xikar or a moderately priced generic piece. Everything is carried from cases, punches and cutters and new smoker can leave fully equipped.

Perhaps the best quality of the cigar lounge is the owner. During our long conversation he was able to point me to smoke friendly bars and restaurants to enjoy our stay in the area. He exclaimed his support of local cigar connoisseurs and puts on many cigar dinners throughout the year. If you’re interested in experiencing one of the few cigar paradises in El Paso then you must stop in to Tobacco Road. Make sure to speak to the owner and get set up for one of the great dinners.
